Since 1965, we have brought families together to celebrate Filipino heritage, support one another, and share our culture with the whole Anchorage community.
We are a nonprofit organization built by Filipino families who wanted a place to belong, thousands of miles from the islands they call home. What started as summer cookouts among a handful of friends in the 1950s has grown into one of Anchorage’s most active cultural communities. Whether you were born in the Philippines, are raising the next generation here in Alaska, or simply love Filipino culture, there is a seat at the table for you.
Everything we do comes back to one goal: keeping our culture alive and our people connected. Here is how we do it throughout the year.
From the Founders’ Day Banquet and Ball to Pista Sa Nayon, the Independence Day picnic, and our Christmas party, we mark the moments that matter with food, music, and family.
Our folkloric dance troupe keeps Filipino tradition in motion, performing at community events across Anchorage and sharing the beauty of our heritage on stage.

It began with a simple cookout. One summer evening in 1953, a few Filipino friends gathered at Eagle River to share a meal, and the warmth of that gathering drew more neighbors every Sunday. By 1965, that circle of friendship had become the Filipino Community of Anchorage. Sixty years later, we are still guided by the same values that started it all: family, faith, and looking out for one another.
